Luncheon Seminar – Auckland
A very successful luncheon seminar was hosted by the New Zealand Chapter on Thursday 8th November, attended by 32 guests representing a number of maritime related organisations including members of the legal fraternity, marine insurance, various exporters and of course many local brokers. The guests were entertained by Mr Chris Greenough from Kotahi Ltd, a very interesting speaker who presented his subject via powerpoint. Chris spoke on the recent developments by his company in shipping dairy products by conventional shipping methods in recent months. The focus of the presentation was to encourage shippers to think ‘outside the box’ !
We also took the opportunity at this function to honour new ICS member Mr Dave Bishop, who won the Baltic Exchange award for top marks world-wide, in Maritime Law, at the 2012 ICS Qualifying Examinations. Dave was presented with his membership certificate and his award. A really top achievement and again a New Zealand student has managed to win a prize for the second year in a row.
The next event for the New Zealand Branch is a combined pre-Christmas Dinner for maritime organisations, to be held at the Northern Club on Wednesday 19th December, as a way of celebrating an eventful year with our industry friends. Invitations will be going out shortly and we encourage everyone connected with the maritime industry to attend.
