Engage a local tutor
Study by correspondence is an ideal method of learning for those involved in the busy and demanding atmosphere of shipping.
TutorShip is the trademark name for the distance learning program of Institute Teaching Centre (ITC) that was developed to provide individual tutoring to students wishing to sit the ICS examinations. It is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate working students wherever they may be in the world. The TutorShip courses are written by specialists and structured in such a way that the student may start the course at any time and study at his or her own pace.
The Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Branch is an approved ITC, delivering the ‘International Tutorship‘ program.
By requesting a “Local Tutor” when registering for Tutorship, students have the advantage of engaging with tutors literally at their doorstep, providing internationally recognised tuition including face-to-face teaching.
TutorShip students may enroll for as few or as many courses as they wish. The student is sent all the material for the course(s) chosen and is allotted a personal tutor for each subject.
Each individual subject is divided into a number of lessons, usually ten, and at the end of every lesson there is an assignment that should be sent to the Tutor for comment and grading. This ensures direct contact between the student and the Tutor that enables individual attention to be given according to the student’s needs.
When the assignment has been marked it is returned to the student via the TutorShip office. In this way not only does the student benefit from the Tutor’s advice but also TutorShip is able to monitor overall progress and add its value where appropriate.
Note: Enrolment with TutorShip is separate from enrolment for the Institute’s Examinations. Drop us an email and we will help with all your queries and clarifications regards studying with ICS, including the enrolment process.
